Learn healthy, natural posture from Smartbody Alexander Amsterdam teacher Patrick Johnson PhD. Patrick combines verbal instruction with expert light touch manipulation to unlock patterns of tension and guide you to a better pattern of support.
During your lessons with Patrick, you will also build your own toolkit of mental cues that will help you maintain good posture and coordination throughout all your activities. This unique combination of bodily experience and intellectual understanding will also allow you to develop your own means for change over time.
Lessons also involve working with specific activities, such as speaking, working at a computer, playing music, or playing a sport. Using verbal feedback and hands on light touch manipulation, Patrick will show you how to improve your postural support and reduce excess tension to improve your performance.
The best way to start is to come in and try a lesson. We’ll explain the technique some more and give you your first hands-on experience of the ‘Alexander high’. Then we can tailor a plan for a series of lessons that fits your needs and budget. While a standard course of lessons is twenty to thirty lessons, as few as six lessons have been shown to provide a long term benefit.
