You only get one body in life. The sooner you learn to use it well, the better.
We help children and teenagers to understand and improve their postural habits. Kids today are subjected to all sorts of body challenges – from sitting for hours at school to hunching over a computer game. These can result in slouching, lethargy, and even chronic pain and stiffness. Unfortunately just telling kids to “sit up straight” is not the solution. Kids need to learn to recognize and address their habits in a smart way – just like us adults.
We work with all ages, from preschoolers to teenagers. Depending on the age, we teach 30 or 45 minute lessons privately.
The Smartbody approach is to work hands on in a variety of activities (sitting, standing, lying down, drawing, walking, building, running, typing, and yes, even gaming) to teach them to notice when they are contorting or stiffening their bodies and allowing them to experience healthier alternatives. The combination of activities and gentle hands on guidance keeps the process fun, rich, and pleasurable. We treat kids like kids and keep things simple and direct. On the other hand we respect the fact that a child can already develop a sophisticated body awareness, even at an early age.
